Can anyone explain why my brain has suddenly chosen to play the theme song to My Three Sons on a seemingly endless loop? [More:] Am I having a stroke?
That happens to you, too? Seriously, I'll find myself humming that to myself at the oddest moments, often while tapping my sneakered foot in time.

(It could be weirder, a week ago I had the 'Car 54, Where Are You?' song in my head. It's a fun tune, but I'm baffled at how a traffic jam in Harlem could get backed up to Jackson Heights)

Like ANYONE who doesn't know that song will click on the link! Yeah, cos I need another tune to get stuck in my head. It's not as bad since I haven't listened to DK's Nazi Punks Fuck Off in a while...that one was no fun to have in your head, you know, in case you accidentally had some of it seep out, in tuneless singing.

bmarkey, I was going to suggest that the only explanation I could think of was that you were going nuts. The fact that it happens to jon too? That may actually give my theory some credence!

It's just so totally random. It's not like I was thinking about the show or anything - we used to watch it when I was a kid, but I don't think I've seen it since then. Why now? And why not a theme I actually like?

When Nick at Nite started airing My Three Sons reruns, they had a promo which used the MTS music with, ah, clever new lyrics. I feel like the last stanza went 'They've got a dog/ His name is Bub/ They're really neat/ They're My Three Sons.' But that can't possibly be right, because Bub was the grandpa's name.

Oh, and here's a theme I like.

I actually heard an interview with (IIRC) Oliver Sacks about this. I think it was on RadioLab. He explained that when a song or turn of phrase gets stuck in your head, it's sort of like a mini-seizure of the brain. Didn't get into neurological detail about what specifically that means, but goddamn it makes me nervous now everytime it happens to me. I had to remove the "That's a moray" MeFi thread from my activity just because it was sticking with me for days and freaking me the hell out.

Seizure. Excellent. My long-awaited aneurysm can't be far off now.

Blow your mind, dude.

For some reason seeing My Three Sons keeps making me think of the Brady Bunch theme with the youngest one in curls.
You're gonna give us all seizures, or the yips.
