moonshine, it's the tip of the iceberg. In American history alone, the list of lousy/scary things our government has done is longer than your arm (my favorite is when they tested bacterial weapons on the populations of San Francisco and NY in the 1950s, without telling anyone). And that's only the government. People with power can be really creepy.

#5 reminded me of Pres. Bush's speech yesterday, where he once again asserted that "terrorists hate freedom." I'm pretty sure, based on my few years of European History, that terrorists hate the fact that the US overthrows democratically-chosed governments and installs pro-West dictators. Also, that we supplied them with weapons to fight the Soviets, but refused to provide them with any other aid.
