So, please raise your hand if you also found beef in your driveway today!? Anyone? My girlfriend went to feed Bob, our feral cat this morning when she saw something at the foot of the drive. [More:] It was a beef roast of about 9 to 11 lbs. Odd that.

We generally avoid ally sourced meat so we tossed it out.

I wonder why Bob didn't dig in?
I found cat food in our back alley (which is also the access to the car spot), because it seems there's some nutter who wants to steal our cats. Not bloody happy I can tell you. At least they've moved up to tinned food now, rather than the cheap-o dry crap they were using before.

I reckon with a 10lb beef roast, they'd've got at least one of them...

No strange beef in driveway. Sorry.

"No strange beef in driveway." So there was familiar beef?

Oh, I see now. It was a trick question.

YOU SUCK, ARSEY!!!

Suddenly i don't want to know what "cat food in our back alley" means, or what's the beef with arsehat's "driveway".

Cold beef in the driveway adventure?

i'm hoping it was dropped by marauding Vikings who fell through a time warp on the way to New England.
Or a husband wife fight in a car going by, involving flinging meat.

i hope looting marauders drop some pastries off here. Let them know if they drop off side dishes.

Years ago the two cats I had at the time managed somehow to steal a leg of lamb and drag it home between them. Getting it through the cat flap was a bit too much for them though, and I was woken up by the sound of them bash-bash-bashing the leg of lamb against the cat flap.

I cleaned off the meat and cooked it for them. Had it been shrink-wrapped, I'd have eaten it.

Maybe Bob left it for you, got it to the driveway and decided you could carry it the rest of the way.

Cat teamwork is ossem.
Imagine an army of them doing the wave.
Adorable

and deadly.

Here's to our hunter gatherer cats!

It's better than burgers, but it must be funny seeing a cat carry a swinging meat patty.
Or a hot dog.

:( And here I was, all ready to ask if it was cooked.

Before the flap, I thought maybe it was a cow. Once when I was walking the dogs in the morning I came upon a stray cow - this is at a city park, mind you, a small city, but still. The cow looked at me and the dogs and the dogs and I looked at the cow and we all decided we wanted nothing to do with whatever that was and turned around and went our separate ways. What makes this really lovely, though, is that there's a slaughterhouse near the park and I think that cow was an escapee. Sometimes I like to imagine her, still free at the park, free as the wind blows, ambling around the bicycle paths.

pompomtom - Have your cats already eaten the food left out for them? I might be paranoid, but I would worry they might be out to harm your cats if they are the wandering type and get into people's gardens. Unfortunately, anecdotally, I know this to have happened.

typewriter: They get fed inside, and they were both (annoyingly) hungry this morning, so I suspect they're quite oblivious. The back alley's not a lot of fun for them, compared to the uncut grass and trees (and birds) in the yard. I've been clearing away the food, but I can't be there all the time.

Was thinking on the way back from lunch (hic!) that I might set up a webcam to catch a few pics of the perpetrator... it's just a matter of working out how to run ethernet from the computer room (front of house) to the back gate. I think I have all the bits I need.
