Ooh. What an odd, fun hack.

Quick list of words in the linux "american-english" dict file I have handy that meet the requirements without any 1337 substitution:

#accede
#beaded
#bedded
#beefed
#cabbed
#dabbed
#decade
#deeded
#deface
#efface
#facade

I need to work in some substitution rules and build up a real vocabulary here.

(Interesting note: pure-letter words are, by circumstance, all very faint and pastel. You've got to snick in some odd-digit numerics replacements if you want to bring out bring out some vibrance.)

There must be more but i can't look for them now.

oh this is awesome! :) I'm glad you're having so much fun with it!

Well, now that cortex has saved us the trouble of looking up usable words, all we can do now is play with them.

Going through the list, it dawned on me that the nick of a MeFite/blogger (and my editor at msnbc.com) GaelFC is l33t-textable.

But then, so is the MeChan who posted this - almost. One too many letters and that letter is untransl33table.

Cortex, your list is not really complete.
It has BEETLE but not BEATLE.
And BOOBED but not BOOBIE.

And I'm only through the B's...

Yes, I'm an addict.

You know, if Victor Borge were alive today, he'd find some way to put this into his act, right between Inflationary Language and Phonetic Punctuation. Then again, I expect Randall Munroe of xkcd to have a field day with this.

Yeah, using the standard linux wordlist is going to leave off a lot of perfectly good proper-name and slang action, but I didn't feel like trying to hunt for wordlists this morning.

Some names and words I just HAD to see the colors of:
(hey)ABBOTT (the dude)ABIDES ATTICA
ATTILA(hi, hun!) BACALL (rocky)BALBOA
BIBLES BIDETS BIGOTS(slightly redneck)
BLOODS(not red) BOOGIE CABBIE(kinda yellow)
CATTLE CLOSED COITAL

whew... and so many more... I gotta get a life.
