I'm having ice cream difficulties. I bought Edy's Slow Churned for the first time and it's really hard to scoop out of the container. Has anyone else here tried it and had the same problem? It's been a few months since I had a large container of ice cream in the freezer, but I don't remember ice cream being this hard to scoop.

Mmmm what flavor? Not that it makes any difference in the answer .. just want to live vicariously. I run the scooper under hot water as I'm scooping. We have Edy's around here but lately when I crave the cold sweet stuff I go to Culver's for some frozen custard.

LOVE mint chocolate chip. Ice cream with stuff in it is so much better than the smooth kind. There used to be an ice cream place where I grew up called Swensens that had a flavor called Swiss Orange Chip. It was chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and an overall orange flavor, sort of like Grand Marnier. This one place in Ohio makes an Almond Joy ice cream .. vanilla with bits of chocolate, coconut and almonds. It's divine even though an Almond Joy would be way down on my list of good candy bars.

Now you've got me wanting some mint chocolate chip.

Leave it on the counter for a little bit, youngergirl.

I don't like candy or stuff in my ice cream. Except for Butter Pecan. My favorites are chocolate, vanilla, and butter pecan. I don't buy Edy's because most of their flavors (all, from what I've seen) contain eggs. Eldest child is allergic.

Edy's Slow Churned is one of my favorite treats. I've never had it be that hard - your freezer must be set to stun.

Ben & Jerry's used to make coffee, coffee, buzz, buzz, buzz, which had chocolate chinks that had espresso bits in them. My most favorite. Graeters in Ohio makes really good ice cream with chocolate chunks that don't get hard and waxy when frozen. My other favorite is Breyers mint chocolate chip. And now I want ice cream, despite gobs of snow on the ground with lots more expected, outdoor temp of 8 deg F, and a drafty window next to me.
