HALFWAY THERE! I just completed half of the counseling hours required to graduate. WHOOP!

That "whoop" was intended as an exclamation and not as a command, but I guess it could go either way.

why would anyone have to undergo mandatory counseling before they can graduate?

I'm the one doing the counseling. And I want to be a therapist, so they require that I get some practice in before being unleashed on the masses. :-)

(Though they do suggest, but not require, that we get our own counseling as well. I think psychoanalytic institutes often require psychoanalysis of their students.)
