Fur Rondy started this weekend - it's Anchorage's winter festival to help keep people from getting cabin fever and drinking themselves into suicide. Alaska is a great place to live.

There are a lot of silly fun events, like teams dragging outhouses through downtown and strapping hundreds of pounds to dogs and seeing how far they can pull it. This year they even had a Running with the Reindeer, kind of like running with the bulls but with less blood and more frostbite.

This bunny was part of the snow sculpture competition (which doesn't even compare to the Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks).

And rondy sounds slightly naughty, which apparently it should.

Damn. Alaska is a cool place.

Oh, man. It's spring here in Victoria, with daffodils thrusting up, crocuses and snowdrops out, and I just toss on a sweater in the morning to go to the office.

And I'd trade it all in to live in Alaska again. I miss Alaska every time I look up into the night sky and see no northern lights.

Please take a walk in Chugach for me, and drive out to Beluga Point. Damn. Just... damn.
