We need God in our government. An interview with four Huckabee supporters who believe, among other things, that Obama plans to get sworn in on a copy of the Koran.
"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." - Winston Churchill

*sigh*

If Jesus came back and saw what's going on in his name, he'd never stop throwing up.

Thing is, people who are fortunate enough to be born into better circumstances than this, and who are interested in politics, really oughtn't be coming up with the false information that these folks believe. Not that there's ever been an ideal, perfect time of zero lying or exploitation. But the Southern Strategy, then the reaching out to formerly recalcitrant evangelical voters, have made lying a central aspect of GOP strategy lately.

When my wife and I were campaigning for Kerry on election day in '04, there was a women in front of the polling place holding a sign saying "Democrats for Bush". This was in a very poor white dying old mill town in Western PA. We talked to her and asked her why she was supporting the President and she said that is was because Kerry was going to ban the Holy Bible. How do you argue with crap like that?

This doesn't surprise me. Huckabee is the candidate of right wing talk radio blowhards, and they've been pushing this kind of slander since day one.

Huckabee is just auditioning for a show on Fox News. I dig the way that the GOP nomination process has boiled down (from the corporatist puppet-master perspective) to worse or worser -- I hope this election is the stake through the heart of the reanimated corpse of the Reagan Right. The evangelicals turned out to be less gullible than Rove thought, Romney fooled no one, and they're left with nominating McCain, a man they all hate.

Now let's see what kind of deal with the devil Clinton signs to win Ohio and Texas.

The closer Obama edges toward nomination (please oh please oh please oh please), the more paranoid I become.

I want Huckabee to stay in, and eventually run on a third party ticket when McCain gets the nod, like some GOP Nader.

Barak Obama baked them cookies and this is how they respond :-(

Meh. Being sworn in on the Koran is so last year.

Everyone knows that if any democrat wins this election they'll be sworn in on gay porn.

Talking to a friend now... "I hope Huckabee does win, the country will look like Escape from New York and Escape from LA in no time! Jesusland in the middle and awesome chaos on both ends."

I'm torn, I really am. The Huckster doesn't appear to have much mileage where I am, and the Dems are all confuzzled about TX, so it may end up split between Clinton and Obama.

I don't normally participate in primaries, but I'm seriously considering putting in a protest for Huckabee just to muck with McCain.
