Sorry to burst the happy-day bubble. Multiple victims in Chicago campus shooting.
I was reading this just now. There were some other school shootings last week. one, two, three. I have to feel bad for the kids that feel like it is necessary that they shoot other human beings to express their pain. On the other hand I can't help but to view the adults shooters as cowards. It's horribly sad.

A lot of my friends went to NIU. It's sad and scary. Thoughts going out to everyone.

The saddest thing about this, to me, is that when I heard them talking about it on the radio, I thought they were referring to a shooting that happened last week. (I don't think anyone died in that one except the shooter.) There are so many of these they run together. Fuck.

I wonder how the WBC will justify turning this into another picketing opportunity.

another Valentines Day Massacre in Chicago?
tragically unoriginal.

I was ashamed to admit my thoughts initially ran to that before the "how horrid" bit kicked in.

I don't really think anything justifies anything they do. Up to and including the stubborn insistence they have to continued existing and sucking down natural resources.

Keep in mind that Dekalb is closer to Iowa than to Chicago. It's 65 miles away.

I'm just amazed and saddened by all these shootings. I'm worried that it's become a method of choice in this generation (thanks to the Columbine shooters setting an example) like car bombs and suicide bombs have in the Middle East.

If Colombine started a trend why weren't there many more kids in clocktowers with rifles a la Whitman in the seventies?

OMG. I just came back from a meeting to find like 5 emails in my inbox about the NIU gunman. Why? He shares my (rare, hard to spell, Polish) last name.

I feel a little strange abou tit.

DeKalb is in the Chicago commuter rail system, but otherwise it's wayyyy exurbia. Until 10 years ago I would barely have counted it part of metro Chicago at all.

Very very sad. We have family friends just up the road from here, one of whom is an NIU alum.
