Poll: Valentine's Day or Valentines Day? I always use the apostrophe, maybe due to interference with the Spanish Día de San Valentín.

But I can also see the case for it being a plural of all the valentines (i.e. valentine cards) that get sent out.

Which do you think it is?

I always say "Valentine's Day", because it's short for Saint Valentine's Day... and call the cards "Valentines" because there it's just a plural and not a possessive. hey! no fair being possessive on Valentine's day!

With an apostrophe. Anything else is wrong and will result in public beatings and other humiliation. So there.

Um, uh, it just occurs to me that my answer would ~~incriminate~~ reveal me as the sender of some Valentines. (See? No apostrophe on the plural.)

So I'll answer real small-like. Jeez, it's St. Valentine's Day. Like St. Patrick's Day!
