Online Dating Helping Pathetic Women Get Their Hopes Crushed More Efficiently Some of you will find this fake Onion news item offensive, misogynistic, and just plain mean, but even though I am one of these "pathetic women", I just had to post this because I find it so damn funny. Probably largely because I am in awe that the actors in this video managed to deliver their lines in such a flawlessly deadpan fashion.
Haaaaaaa, that's funny!

Funny. On sort of the same level as this one, in that you can't help but feel a little bad for the actors. Apparently the kid actor understood it was the character being called fat, not him.

I loved this one that I heard about on This American Life last week:

Local Girlfriend Always Wants to Do Stuff

Miko, I had missed "Local Girlfriend Always Wants to Do Stuff," so thank you! I snarfled coffee up my nose at this:

...and, on 20 separate occasions, has expressed a desire to go on a meandering walk without a fixed destination, purpose, or time limit.

Hehe!

According to behavioral psychologist Dr. Michael Greer, though Maas' irrational compulsion for doing things is extreme, it is by no means uncommon.

"Alicia is exhibiting all the classic signs of what we call 'active behavior'—an impulse to engage in unnecessary and often prolonged outdoor movement that is most commonly found in females," Greer said. "Though we cannot be certain, these habits seem to stem from an innate desire to not be doing nothing."

Miko, that article just summed up the demise of my last long term relationship.

Except they forgot to include the part about him not wanting her to be Doing Stuff without him either.

Heh. When I visited a male friend in North Carolina for a week in May 2008 I ran into the "guy doesn't want to do stuff" problem. If I suggested we go for a walk he'd act like I'd suggested the most hideous and unnatural activity ever. I showed him the article mid-week, and we got a lot of mileage out of it, humour-wise.
