Yeah, so I forget how great Rock and Roll is when I spend too much time listening to old-timey stuff. But I saw the New York Dolls tonight, and jesus, they're fabulous. Lonely Planet Boy was an invocation of Johnny Thunder, and Jet Boy was sublime. They also did a fabulous cover of Piece of my Heart, with David Jo. channeling Janis Joplin. There isn't a sexier man alive.
Y'know, I went back and forth on seeing the Dolls when they were here in town. Ultimately I had one of those "if it's just David and Syl and a bunch of unknowns, is it really the Dolls?" moments and decided not to go.

Which is not intended to take anything away from your experience - I'm glad to hear that they're still able to bring it.

Happy to hear David is still fun but, isn't New York Dolls "old-timey stuff"?

Well, to be fair, I figured "just David & Syl" makes them worth about 10x what most bands are worth.

There's a fairly recent documentary (2005, maybe?) about the NY Dolls that you may enjoy if you haven't already seen it.

Is it this, amro? Oddly, I just saw this the other day because the same production company is producing "Resolved," the debate movie.

Yep, that's it.
