grrr, this is a grumbling thread [More:]
*sigh*

Someone brought their young baby into work this morning. Normally this isn't a problem, however, this particular kid is apparently shy of strangers and has been bawling/shrieking non-stop for the past hour. New levels of deafening ear-rending shriek are reached everytime he gets passed to another person.

FFS, if the poor kid's that unhappy TAKE HIM HOME!

This is not helped by the fact that our building is a fully-open tri-level clerestory structure, so all 150 of us in this division get to hear every scream echoing off the atrium ceiling. Or by the fact that I have more than the usual amount of tedious, concentration-requiring work to be done this morning.

I think I'm going to don a lab coat and glasses and go invent some busywork in the QC lab for awhile. I know they'll at least let me wash their glassware.
Poor everyone- poor baby, poor parent, poor you. Hope baby wears himself out soon!

People are allowed to bring their children to work on a regular basis? I understand if there's an emergency or something, but to do it regularly? I would think productivity would be affected to the point where it outweign the benefit to the employee.
