They had this in Korea proper since I was in middle school. I don't can't remember if it was this same chain though, but I do remember it being some local fast food brand. And they had different cup combos, whether it was pieces of popcorn chicken or even fries. Like you could even get a twofer. I always thought it was a rip off because I really like soda, and I thought the gimmicky cup gave a false hope of how much soda was in it.
Did the Burger Kings here in the US do the french fry pouch? They used to serve large fries in a pouch at the Korean BKs in the 90s. The fry bag was pleated so you could pull out the bottom edges like a skirt and it'd turn into a small mouth pouch. I personally liked it because I could squeeze the ketchup into the mouth of the bag. Then shake up the pouch. When you'd rip it open, voila, ketchup covered fries you could eat with a fork. Or you could just not rip it and eat it out of the bag on the go with a fork.
