Baboon dads have surprising influence on daughters' fitness. The more time a baboon dad spends with his daughters, the more offspring those daughters tend to have. "The paternal assistance [the senior author's] research group documented in yellow baboons may also be at work in other types of monkeys, she added. 'I think our data make a strong case that should be looked at,' she said."

Well, the study didn't indicate whether the baboon parents had to be married for the advantageous effects to occur, so I won't fret for dno's friend's baboon baby yet. :-)
