I hesitate to say I'm a "fan," because (especially next to you) I feel my music likes are nowhere approaching true fandom, but yes, I love Hendrix.

And while I was never able to pull off the hippie/bohemian look in real life, I've always really wanted to. But it just doesn't really fit my personality, alas.

Fandom's not about how many records you own or how many trivia questions you can answer (fun though both are), it's about what the music does to you. Now, excuse yourself and go kiss the sky.

(I have some recordings of Hendrix back when he was a sideman for Little Richard (he was doing a Curtis mayfield-type thing then) and some proto-rap he did with a cat named Lightnin' Rod, who later was one of The Last Poets, one of the first hip-hop groups to record. I'll post 'em soon. I have a few great music posts cookin' for the new year)
