I'm of two minds about this story. One the one hand- does anybody get tattooed so that people WON'T look at it? On the other hand- pics of you, any part of you, when you're asleep and can't say no, are wrong, unless you're asleep out in pubic.
Now, to indulge in a bit of punishment-to-fit-the-crime fantasizing, what should the doctor's sentence be? Pick an equal number of strangers to number of friends he showed the photo to, and have a public viewing of his peepee? Or how about a tattoo on his penis that says "do not resuscitate" (or, maybe, just DNR)?
People get tattooed for all kinds of reasons, and it seems to me that penis tattoos must rank pretty high on the only-want-certain-people-to-see-it charts.
Not even the point, though. This is a story about professionalism and medical ethics and patient privacy. Frankly, I question the propriety of even including a description of the tattoo in the reporting. If the dude had some kind of rare disease or something, I hope that reporters wouldn't so blithely disclose that information.
