Oh Noes! I sat on my cat! [More:]I was acting over-exited that Simpsons was on telly to lure my terrible two's girl into the bedroom so I hopped into bed to watch and landed on the cat who was hiding under the covers! He hissed, of course and growled so bad (this is the most mild mannered cat ever) that I immediatly thought I must have broken something on him. Turns out he can move the back leg up and down, but he really really doesn't want to stand on it and it looks as if he holds a bit 'out' from his body. A bit later he jumped back onto the bed again, something I don't think he'd attempt with a broken one, so I'm worried instead now of broken hip bone, rib, or worse, internal injury. He doesn't hiss or growl at me now but for ten minutes he was pretty bad, growling at every move and clearly in pain. I've called the animal hospital who said that while I could come in today (which is an official holiday) it would cost me a lot mre than I have in the bank right now. Hope me mechakittylovers, what can I do for my poor old man?
As much of a burden as it might be financially, I think the boy has to go to the vet. My better half agrees. Better safe than sorry, for one thing. But for another, cats are pretty notorious for hiding their discomfort.

Problem is, the bill is due when you get there 1400 just to get in and then what the vet adds (x-rays, pills, whatnot), and I literally don't have any money or credit cards.

I might have scared myself silly there too, as he's jumped up to the bed twice and the couch once since. So now I'm not as worried and we'll take him tomorrow, when the fee is only X-ray and whatever the vet does, and I can have mom wire me some cash.

Yeah, I just looove it when my cat darts unexpectedly between my feet as I'm shuffling to the bathroom first thing in the morning. Eighty percent of the time, with some fancy footwork, I manage to avoid launching myself headlong into a doorjamb and trampling the cat in the process. But there's always that one time in five that I end up splayed out on the bathroom floor with a bump on the noggin, being balefully stared down by a cat I've just sent flying; and now, all of a sudden, I'm the asshole!

I hope your cat is OK, dabitch.

Yes, I am a dog person. And a son of a bitch. Hope your cat's OK.

Poor kitty.
They're pretty resilient with the flexible spines and all. Check for swelling and a temperature, soreness, joint stiffness, etc.
The Bees has a thing for trying to kill people by getting between their feet and the ground, which has calmed down some, but i think i'm just walking even more oddly on her behalf.

(((dabitch))) Hope yr kitty is OK.

I worry about rolling over on my Fry when I'm asleep but he chooses the spot by my side most nights (my brother's cat Bert slept down by my feet when I was keeping him). I've almost sat on him in my office chair a couple of times but he has lately moved to a window seat of sorts for almost all his napping.

That's 1400 SEK you're avoiding, right? Sounded worse but it's just about US$200 (boy, I remember when the kronor was five to a dollar like a franc). I know when we waited too long with my mom's dog Pippi and called a vet to come in at 8:30pm, and all she could do was a euthanization, it cost $700.

*PHEEEEEW*

Ok, after many many many (too many) hours wait at the animal hospital and dramatic near death experiences during sedation before several X-rays we now know nothing is broken. He's clearly hurting though but that has been taken care of with pain killers and other shots, plus extra painkillers to give at home. Old cats don't sedate well and mine does a quit-breathing thing that freaked the hell out of me, but now I guess I can relax a little and let the poor critter sleep it off.

Two vets checked him to make sure. Vet #2 "he's very dried out look at that matte fur." Vet#1 "Dude, that cat is fifteen years old" Vet #2 "Is he? Get out. Well no wonder he has matte fur." My cat looks like a much younger kitty, but he's an old man.

Grand total: 2062. Had it been yesterday it would have totaled 3462. Mom wired some cash to cover.

Me too. *phew* Shame he haaates taking his painkillers, but he has now found a new place to snuggle (my fancy chair, I've propped it full of fluffy down covers).
