25 December 2007

So, who else's humbuggin' it? I slept late this morning, and after fixing some eggs, I came down to my office to do some reading and research, listening to some techno on my pc. It's a mellow tuesday in pi country, how about you?
I'm working.

Well, I'm at work, anyway. I'm actually finishing the last fifteen pages of The Clash: Return of the Last Gang in Town. Once I finish that, I'm on to Bob Dylan: The Essential Interviews, which I got for my birthday. And every now and again there's a little flurry of work that needs my attention for about five minutes.

Other than that, I'm just watching the clock.

I've been chillin'. We just watched the Steinberg & Son episode of Sanford & Son, featuring a young John Larroquette as the Jewish Lamont. Very po-mo moment. Larroquette was a major boozer and doper back in the day as was Demond Wilson. Maybe they got loaded together on set.

I dunno that I'm humbuggin' it exactly, but I spent Christmas by myself. Slept late, ate breakfast, worked out, put a vegetarian Hungarian goulash into the slow cooker, and then spent the afternoon reading and listening to Christmas music and playing around with my Christmas present shortwave radio. And called Mother. Ate dinner and just watched an old episode of Iron Chef (Battle Turkey -- Morimoto v. Ogue) while drinking the Cote du Rhone I bought special for Christmas.

I am fascinated by the Steinberg & Son thing, which, even though I watched many a Sanford & Son as a child in the 70s, I do not remember at all.

It's on at 4pm tommorrow on TVLand, you big dummy.

Alas, you big dummy, I don't get that channel.

I, alas, am home by meself as my Christmas will be on a different time schedule this year. I'm travelling out the first of the year to Palm Springs to see my sibs (first time in like three years, and the first time since my divorce).

So, I sit here humbly until my delayed gratification season begins. Santa left me a kickass stocking, though.

Hanging in the cave most of the day, except for a nice walk around midday. Some beer, lots of episodes of Stargate, watched Mostly Martha this morning. Couple of beers & enchiladas this afternoon. Perfect. Once I figure out what the closing snack is gonna be.

Whole Foods' website says it's open till 11 EVERY day. LIE!!!! Tried Columbus Circle and Union Square---managed to sneak into the conference
floor bathroom at the W hotel.

I sort of wish I had humbugged it this afternoon. I had a good Christmas morning with the wife and baby (his first!) and got some fairly cool stuff (though nobody got me the one thing I asked for, curse them all), but after that I quickly tired and slid into wishing I didn't have to go socialize with extended family. I would have been more content with a Venture Bros. DVD marathon and a bottomless case of beer, bottle of wine, or jug of bourbon.

Ooh, I watched some Stargate earlier in the day. I forgot how cool that show is!

middleclasstool, this is as good a time to mentioned as any I guess, I always read your name as middle class stool

This is a surprisingly (to me) common error, one that some insist on repeating. Some of my IRC friends derive great joy from calling me "Mr. Stool," "Stool," or "Stoolie." I allow this to continue because the technology to punch someone over the internet does not yet exist. :D

If I were single, I'd be the biggest humbugger ever. However, I feel that it's pretty cruel to rob kids of Crimmis, so we do it (as pagan style as poss).

I'm probably more the biggest-hamburger-ever type.
