Christmas Miracles →[More:]I haven't gone into much detail with all of you, but here goes in a Cliff's Notes version:
Mr. V had a sudden problem in early November which led to a diagnosis of a mass on his right kidney and a spot on his lung, indicative of Renal Cell Carcinoma. Second opinion led to doctors at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and surgery on December 20th. Both surgeries were done consecutively, Mr. V was under for over six hours, and came through with flying colors. It was RCC, according to the lung doctor (who did a frozen sample) but they seem to think they got it all. (He may require treatment later, anyway, just to be safe.) Anyway, as of yesterday morning he still had a chest tube in, and we had no idea when he could come home. (we live an hour and 20 minutes from Philly, and I was working in the mornings and going after work to see him).
Yesterday, I worked, met my mom at our house, and drove us plus all four kids to the hospital to see him. We arrived, and with a big grin he announced they were SENDING HIM HOME!!! RIGHT THEN!!!! What a cool Christmas surprise, it was a precious, precious moment for us. I got to have him home for Christmas Eve, and home for Christmas Day, and I am so thankful that I wanted to share it with all of you.
Thank you for all your support to the few bunnies who knew, and thank all of you for just being there for me when I needed to laugh, or needed diversions, cute pictures, or everything else I get from this site and all of you.
Now, enough about us. This really is a wonderful time of the year (and Mr. V feels especially so) and a time to truly give thanks for all we have, and think of everyone we love. Please, my friends, add your thoughts on the season, your holiday stories, and things you're grateful for. Heapings of good wishes for all of you!!!!
