21 December 2007

My neighbor gave me $20 to drive her to the airport yesterday afternoon. I broke it tonight for the chocolate yummitude of a 3 Muskateers bar. En route to retrieving the treat, we saw our neighborhood feral cat family: Mr. Sir (assumed dad), Veranda (assumed mom). Boxcar (their youngster) was not around. Pretty exciting Friday night, huh?
I'm collating monthly receipts and sending out statements. I'd much rather be eating a 3 Musketeers and looking at feral cats, believe me.

Vegas is pretty dead, being the weekend before Christmas, so yeah, I would count that as pretty exciting. The Strip has so little traffic that the buses are running on time, and you only have to be a little careful about crossing against the lights -- bored cabbies, don't ya know.

This coming Wednesday, though, look out! This will be a super-long New Years Eve weekend and it won't let up until the Superbowl is over.

I made $68 in tips today, breaking my previous record by over twenty bucks. My immediate supervisor has promised me a bottle of whiskey tommorrow as an xmas gift. I bought The Official Punk Rock Book Of Lists co-written by my casual pal Handsome Dick Manitoba. I had crab cakes for lunch and may also have them for dinner. I got an Xmas card from TPS. Life is OK.

(Have you tried the 3 Muskateers Mint? It's badass.)

I spent an hour shoveling snow and getting my car up the driveway. Not all that much effin fun. All my fun Friday nights were long ago.

I spent most of the day on the phone or the email with my lawyer, reviewing amendments to a contract. So I guess that is actually more excitement than I wanted. I think I am going to have one of those thingies in a glass with tequila and lime.

Got up, showered, had breakfast, Doc managed to squeeze me in for a prescription renewal appt., had lunch, had looooong nap, had dinner, almost done Metachatting and will be playing WoW in a bit. All in all a great Friday.

No, no, no! Why screw with perfection?!

We took a little walk to get some money from the ATM, bought some food, cooked some supper, watched a dvd, and then I fell asleep about four pages into "Knots and Crosses" (Ian Rankin; Rebus series; because I've been thinking I want a nice mystery/detective character to get into. Good choice? Other suggestions?)

The excitement.

chewie, don't let anyone say you don't know how to have a good time ;)

taz--Excellent choice! I've read every last one of his books--he's my hands-down favourite mystery writer, and Rebus is a delightful character. (By 'delightful' I mean dour, hard-drinking, music-geeky, cynical, utterly fucked up, but brilliant.) I also like Minette Walters' earlier books. I haven't read many of the later ones so can't comment on them, but the first few (Scold's Bridle, The Echo, Ice House, The Sculptress) were fantastic IMHO. (I usually read them in a day, so rarely buy them now that I don't have access to the UBC bookstore's remainders bargain madness.)
