19 December 2007

Is it me, or was 2007 a pretty good year for movies? [More:]I was looking through my obsessive movie rankings at Criticker and decided to screen for just 2007. It was a pretty good year:

No Country for Old Men
Juno
Michael Clayton
Eastern Promises
Zodiac
American Gangster
Waitress
Superbad
(well, I liked it)
And the best action movie in a while, The Bourne Ultimatum

Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood (link to embedded video) is coming on the 26th. I've avoided reading too much about it, but it sounds like it'll be pretty exciting.

And I still need to see The Savages and Atonement.

Thoughts? Feel free to tell me my favorite movies suck.
It wasn't just you.

Once was terrific. I haven't seen Promises, No Country, or There Will Be Blood yet, but I have a hard time believing that they'll beat out Once as my '07 favorite.

Oh yeah, I liked Once as well. It comes up in Criticker as a 2006 release, but it didn't hit US theaters until this year.

The Kingdom was actually pretty underrated, too. Looks like a good list; via and I are excited to see Juno.

I have not seen a single movie all year. True.

But I’m not going to say “merry Christmas” at all anymore || Anyone need any bad advice?
