I want to meet Elvis Costello, too. So both miss lynster and chuckdarwin have met Elvis Costello. I... I... I'm so jealous.
He sweated on me once. We were front row center for the first show of the Imperial bedroom tour and, well, Elvis was pretty sweaty that night. Not exactly the same thing, but you take what you can get.
I had traveled for the sole and exclusive purpose of seeing his show. On the Amtrak on the way back early the next morning, he was in the next car. The train was near empty, and he came walking down the aisle, to talk to I think the only two other people in my car, who were part of his entourage. I chatted with him briefly and shook hands with him on the way off the train.
It was pretty rad. You should meet him sometime too, malaprohibita!
I met him. He was being promoted to college radio stations, which was actually kind of weird. I let the guy I was dating at the time interview him because I was too shy. It was interesting. He was dating that chick from the Pogues (?) and they were wearing matching khaki shorts and hawaiian shirts. wtf.
I met him in 1978 when I worked at Sounds. He seemed Much Older than everybody else. He probably wasn't, it was probably because he was always a serious musician in amongst the fairly terrible punk bands of the day.
i want to meet, too. i gave scody full dibs on Paul Weller, but i get to keep Elvis. i imagine that he would be sweet and funny, with the possibility of subtle lechery.
But i don't want him now so much as i want him then. i'm glad he's a man out of time, preserved for my pleasure.
I want to meet Daniel Day Lewis....but word has it he stinks--though this was by a (then at the time closeted) lesbian.Was it unwashed or his own smell?
