Actually, no. There is something very wrong with the British House of Lords.

Lord Justice Gage in an ass.

Interesting, essexjan. Is the House of Lords planning on repudiating the concept of the eggshell plaintiff?

Lord Justice Gage said that he would give the reasons for overturning the convictions at a later date.
What. The. Fuck? He can't think of a reason right now, but he made the decision anyway?

This is two days in a row that this subject has arisen.

This doesn't have anything to do with the House of Lords, this is the Court of Appeal.

There's nothing unusual about the reasons for a decision being given after the decision itself.

And if your decision is to release prisoners, best to release them as soon as possible. They shouldn't spend extra days in prison so that you can perfect your writing style.

Not that I agree with the decision, but I haven't read it yet.

On an unrelated British justice-system note: every time I think about people being arrested for 'anti-social behaviour,' I cringe a little inside. And for once, I'm glad I'm not British.

I dunno, I live in a neighborhood that makes me think that ASBOs are a pretty nifty idea about, oh, once a week or so.

More often during my summer troubles with the drug house, but still.

As for this ... it does seem like they're just going to be sentenced on a lesser charge, at least. It really depends on the language of the manslaughter law (and case law) as to why this wasn't provable q.e.d.
