13 December 2007

It's 9:30 AM and my day has already been 5 1/2 hours of crap! But a MeFi post came at just the right time to put me a happy place.[More:]I woke up at 3:30 this morning to catch a 6AM flight to New York for a meeting, and it was cancelled. Then I waited standby for two more flights and had to finally throw in towel when I heard that there were over 100 people on standby ahead of me. The next flight would have gotten me into New York too late for my meeting. So after paying 10 bucks for parking and battling rush hour I'm back home.

The one shining moment this morning was the super 8 footage backed with a favorite Zombies song linked from this mefi post. I signed up for airport wifi ($7) to check for other flights (no luck)and then went to MeFi to kill time while waiting to hear about standy. At about the moment I was most pissed I plugged in my headphones and watched the video twice and it totally turned my mood around. Afterwards I leveled out and felt calm and just waited to hear fate what the airport gods had decided. But something that simple really did turn around my head in the right direction. God I love MeFi, the Zombies, and the power that music can play in your life.

Now that home I'm putting on the Zombies box and getting ready to call my company travel service and make sure somebody already in New York can run the meeting.

Is it really that bad in New York that they're cancelling and delaying flights?
Great story, Slack! I'm glad you're Zombie happy. :)

That Zombies-soundtracked video is awesome.

And I love the fact that through teh intarweb I have discovered I am not the only Colin Blunstone fan left on the planet. Nobody else I know IRL has ever heard of him.

Yeah, it's snowy-sleety here at the moment (at least it is in the Bronx). I guess planes would find it hard to land?

Yea, there was some definite sleet/hail action, although I think it has stopped for the moment.

Hey, slack-a-go-go! We missed you last night! Sorry about your morning, but yay about finding ways to be zen. Coincidentally, there was an editorial in the NYTimes on-line about this very type of zen-ing at airports this morning.
