10 December 2007

No MeFi :( This makes grouse sad. On the other hand, I finished the first draft of the second chapter of my thesis.
It's making me twitch a bit too.

Okay, you have an excuse to read my latest piece at MSNBC.com instead. And my blog where I explain why it isn't as brilliant as I originally wrote it. (Editors. Meh.)

We are currently experiencing a network interruption that is affecting a a wide section of The Planet's network.

The Planet's? I wonder if it will affect mine too.

My perspective is so off that when mefi is down and I go to CNN.com, I expect to see a headline telling me that metafilter is down.

Yeah, I might actually get my next round of job applications out today if mefi stays down.

Maybe.

Billable hours are vastly over-rated. Meh.

Is it the editors' fault that you used "tortuous" instead of "torturous?"

sorry.

I wonder if MetaChat experiences an upsurge in registration whenever MeFi conks out.

Remember when we had a mefi status button on the sidebar? We haven't needed it for a while. Huh. Meanwhile, I have finally gotten around to properly duotoning all the newsletter graphics. Thank you metafilter for making my Monday boring, thus forcing me to get to annoying tasks like that.

Thanks to MeFi being down I just got finished cutting my lawn. I used scissors to snip each blade individually.

You see, I didn't want to directly accuse the network that owns 50% of the website of torturing its viewers, so I took a tortuous route...

That's my story and I'm sticking with it for at least a half-hour.

Mine's so off I drove my cursor up to that comment to favorite it.

but, but...I'm going to Asia tomorrow! With limited internet access! How can MeFi be down?!?! I need it to distract me from my work.

I was busy all weekend, and savoring the Metafilter treat that I was saving for myself today. I had planned on spending hours on the site, catching up on all the goodies on the blue, then the green, finishing up on the gray. Now I am actually working instead. I've translated about 12 pages, washed all the bedding in the house, and made breakfast and lunch. I suppose I should praise my own productivity, but what I really wanted to be doing was reading Metafilter.
