"A Christmas Gift For You from Phil Spector" was the legendary a**hole's producer's Wall-of-Sound holiday album, which had the bad luck to be released on Nov. 22, 1963, the day JFK was shot. A bit of a flop at the time, it was only later that it came to be considered by many as a holiday classic. Help yourself to some rockin' good cheer right here.[More:]

I'm trying something different with divshare, putting all the songs in a folder, which SHOULD make them all available from the same link. If this is one of those deals where it shows up differently for me because I'm logged in, somebody let me know and I'll link to the tracks individually.

Ho ho ho!
Yay! Thanks!

BoPo, man, these were some of the first non-standard (in my family, that meant, non-Elvis, non-Neil Diamond, etc) Christmas songs I ever found, and they blew my mind. They still do.

It's really too bad he's a nutter and all, but man alive he made some FANTASTIC music back then, with some AMAZING singers.

Kudos to you for sharing! Kudos I say!

Oh, wow, thanks, BP. This is terrific. I hadn't even heard all of these before.

I owe you all the Beach Boys Christmas album now, from I think 1965. I'll try to do it on divshare in the next few days. That was my favorite Christmas album as a kid, and it still is.

Glad y'all enjoyed it!

richat, these were the first "non-standard" Christmas songs I ever heard, too... probably around the time Apple (Beatles, not Jobs) re-released the album in the early 70s. My parents weren't into it, but I heard it somewhere or other and was entranced.

I agree, youngergirl. :)

And ibmcginty, I'd love to hear that! I know a few Xmas songs from the Beach Boys... considering it almost hit 80 degrees today and we're going to sleep with a couple of windows open, a Beach Boys Xmas might be just what the doctor ordered for 2007.

BTW, according to Wikipedia, Brian Wilson calls the Phil Spector Christmas album his favorite album ever. I could believe that.

BP, thank you so much. These are songs I've always loved and never had around to hear whenever I liked. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you!
This was THE go-to Christmas album in my house growing up.
I'm suddenly reminded of decorating and wrapping gifts and baking cookies with my mom. Awesome.
