Online shopping for tall, XXL menswear? Other than LL Bean? I'm striking out.
Oh the horrors of shopping for an XXLT. Most of the mister's stuff comes from Eddie Bauer or Land's End. The Gap and Old Navy also have some tall guy stuff. Penney's has a pretty big selection, but most of it is kind of dorky.
Penney's has a pretty big selection, but most of it is kind of dorky.
Fortunately, dorky is MY style, but that developed when I was really broke and Penneys had a "catalog surplus store" in the San Fernando Valley where I could get pants in my absurdly large size for between $9 and $16, most of which I could unashamedly wear in public.
Sorry for abandoning this, I forgot I had posted it.
I was mainly looking for sweaters and dress shirts. It looks like Joseph Bank is having a ginormous sale on a bunch of dress shirts that are actually my father's size, so that took care of that.
But I will definitely check out Nordstroms and some of these other suggestions when Father's Day comes around...
Importing stuff may be prohibitively expensive at the moment, but in the UK we have a shop called 'High and Mighty' which is pretty good, and their website allows you to select dollars. Whether it would arrive before Christmas is another issue.
My boyfriend has always been High and is now also tending towards the Mighty, and they have some really good stuff (including beautiful shirts).
My recent favorite has been JCPenney (thanks, jrossi4r). Gap, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, etc., don't have nearly the selection that Penny's does, at least not in my size/price range. Macy's sometimes has good deals on pants, but not much else. Nordstrom's can have some good deals, too, but I've found their sizing is inconsistent, so I have to try before I buy there.
Avoid KingSize--their stuff is mostly low quality, and, yeah, WAY dorky. Also, I've found that Casual Male Big and Tall is crazy with their sizes; most of their stuff is way, way too big for the size they list. Even their XL is like a tent on me.
I take it back, mrmoonpie and Wendell! I just checked them out again and their stuff is very simple and not at all dorky. I had written them off years ago because there were too many elastic-waist pants and Cosby sweaters. I'm sorry! You're not dorks!
