Help! I dripped hot wax on my best jeans. [More:]Will it just come off in the wash? Is there some sort of housekeeping tip -- that I could obviously just google if it weren't for the fact that I was already on this webpage and felt like using it -- that you know of? Like, "dissolve melted wax on jeans with vinegar!" Don't worry; I won't try anything of the sort -- or anything else, actually -- until you tell me what to do.
Off the top of my head I would say sticking them in the fridge/freezer and allowing the wax to harden and then chipping it off would be a good solution, but I'm no expert.

You want me to take my pants off and put them in the freezer? Umm. What kind of weirdo slumber party IS this?

Put a paper towel over the wax, then run a hairdryer over it. Repeat until the wax is gone. I got red wax out of my carpet that way, so I'm sure it will work on your jeans.

THIS IS NOT ADVICE. DO NOT DO THIS. I AM ASKING A QUESTION, NOT ADVISING YOU.

Would it work to re-melt the wax with an iron and absorb it with a paper towel, or other absorbent product such as a bichon frise?

Been there, done that...

FIRST: do the freezer and chipping thing. This should get 90% of the wax off.
SECOND: Do the iron and paper towel thing.
THIRD: Hot wash.

pompomtom is 100% right. it's exactly what Martha would tell you. Furthermore, it will work.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've had spam with this exact same title.

An iron over a papertowel will work also. I've used this method. And I always live the crazy life, or so I'm told.

Wait! I have a better solution! I spilled hot wax, like a ton of it, all over a black cotton skirt last summer. Took it to the dry cleaners and voila, all clean with no PITA lengthy miserable chipping/ironing process, which, btw, may well end up leaving a paraffin stain anyway. Also, I used to do batiks, and drycleaning was inevitably the last step after the ironing/newspaper/paper towel steps. Although you have to go to a different dry cleaner every time because the wax sort of messes up their machines and they hate you after you bring in batiks.
