"After" photo of room redo. →[More:]
Hi Metachat. I've missed you so!

I've been working on this room for weeks. I primed and painted this entire space by myself. I feel like I've been in a one man home makeover show, but without the television cameras and the free furniture.

I took this photo this evening. I'll have better photos in better light on my Flickr page tomorrow if you're interested. The other side of the room has new furniture as well.

It's been an adventure. Yesterday my Crate and Barrel pieces arrived and the freight company dropped our boxed furniture from 12 feet in the air from a hydraulic lift. One of the chairs is sitting on a broken leg at the moment.

The room sort of looks like a model home. We'll add some more personal touches soon. I'm not such a fan of the artwork, but it's what I needed size wise. I'll be on the lookout for more interesting art. The couch and ottomans are dark brown, even though they look black in the pic. The rug is from FLOR. The ottomans are so cool! I can't say enough about the quality of these inexpensive ottomans. I bought them from Overstock.com. They function as ottoman, extra seating, storage, and the top flips over to reveal a wooden tray to use as a coffee table.

Lori, that looks awesome! Yay, modernism! I love your house.

If you ever tint those walls blue-ish or green-ish, you're going to be even happier.

Yes, BP, I agree about the blue or green. I wanted to paint with color, but then I thought against it because of the vaulted ceilings. Where the angled painted walls meet the white ceiling it looks sort of unfinished and cheap in my opinion. I'm probably crazy.

I love color and am not afraid, but I wanted something bright and airy. The white, even though it's a warm white, takes some getting used to. I'll probably break down and paint it a color before too long.

Very "cool," as in temperature, LoriFLA. And incredibly symmetric. I feel sorry for you that your new furniture was damaged during delivery.

I know you've put a lot of thought and work into this, and it would have been great to have a "finished finally!" point. But, that's how it goes with a lot of decorating projects. Lotsa luck getting the chair fixed.

How did the Apartment Therapy folks participate in this project? Did you get the design help you wanted, or is this all "you"? Is there going to be a "before and after" follow up on AT?

Very sophisticated, Lori! nice job. I can easily envision the room a little more askew and candlelit with friends talking late into the night at the end of an awesome party. Well done!

Very nice! And I agree with BP that painting the wall in a light blue (same tone as the chairs, just a lighter shade) would be a great touch.

Marvelous. And, it looks way, way better than any model home I've seen! Very serene.

Bonus is that the color pallete you've chosen is so wonderfully adapable:
You can change that up with throw pillows of any color, depending on your mood, and have a totally different effect for the two seasons you have in Florida. (tourist and non-tourist).

Think about how it will look with something that's a bright green -something like Sherwin Williams "dancing green", or "witty green" (depending on the exact shade of those great chairs). Or even something like "stirring orange" for a contrast.

How fun to see such a good looking redo. Better than a lot of those design shows on hgtv.

Very lovely, Lori! I think it looks fabulous, and I love, love, love the blue. I can't wait to see the whole thing.

I'll just make one comment (but it's probably just me); if you replace the art, see what you think about maybe getting one pretty large piece (not too dark), instead of two smaller - only because with two chairs, two lamps, two ottomans, then two art pieces, it's very two-sy.

I can't believe you did all this so quickly! You must be exhausted, but you are going to have a gorgeous space for the holidays as your reward.

YAY modern! Very nice! I bet you had a ball doing that (except for the damaged part). This is a cool color finder tool I'm using to find combinations that work in my house. Paint is amazing how it can change a room. And I bet specklet knows some tricks too.

Yes. Design help was provided. Yes to the follow up too, hopefully. I'll post links and elaborate further when it's up on AT.

Thanks everybody! Taz, I agree about the two-sy thing. I wanted a big picture instead of two, but I couldn't find one that was big that I liked.
