01 December 2007

Snow! First real snow of the season. (Well, real for this part of the world.) Looks like the recycling depot doesn't need me today, so I guess I'll stay in and make a big pot of chili and some cornbread, and tidy up a bit. What are you up to this weekend?
Same thing. Enjoying the snow and planning to make chili and cornbread. It's the perfect weather for it. Also planning to sit under a blanket and drink tea and read. Hooray for snow!

Oh, and since it's cold out, I think I'll wear my new red polar socks. Yay, new red socks.

Missed your comment on preview, smitch--yay, chili and cornbread on a snowy day! I also picked up a red fleece throw for cheap--it would be the perfect blanket to sit under and read. Mmmmm. Yep, think I'll do that, too.

It's snowing here too. I'm thinking about taking pictures of it if it will stick to the tree branches.

We're not getting snow, we're getting freezing rain and ice pellet-y things. Gonna be nasty, but not nearly as nasty as the ice storm that shut down the whole damn state last february. Makes me glad we have such a small campus.

It's currently -23C with windchill, so I definately plan on staying inside. Tomorrow I have to brave the cold and go to work for a few hours.

Just checked the mail, and my dad sent me the new Ian Rankin and the new John leCarre--perfect reading for today. My friend the local cab driver just dropped off some groceries (needed perishables after a week away, and no way could I do it), and is shutting the cab service down due to weather. It's really coming down and blowing hard now. Time to get cooking before the power goes out--the chili will go on the woodstove, but not the cornbread (well it might, in a pinch, but it's better in the oven).

cleo & dismas--man, that sounds unpleasant. *hands everyone warm blankets and hot chocolate*

Staying in, drinking tea, reading, playing Dwarf Fortress. Outside, it's -7C with quite a lot of snow - it's been a few years since I last saw snow in the beginning of December. In the past years, "real" winter (with snow and everything) has only started in the end of December or beginning of January, but this time, it looks like it's come a bit earlier.

Sounds cozy, you peeps with snow! elizard, red socks have been proven to keep your feet warmer than any other color. Sunny & chilly here. It's a beehive across the tracks at the nursery - selling trees and wreaths right & left. The knife sharpener guy was at the grocery today, so we hauled our blades over & now I'm forbidden to touch them. :)

There is suppose to be snow but haven't seen any yet.
i am snuggling with a very well mannered little lady kitty, who i put supermarket anti itchy bug stuff on, who has been contorting her bestest to try and lick at the stuff, causing me mild concern as to its safety.
Myself, i have no appetite but made myself eat some oranges. It seems unwise to drink a bloody mary despite braving the bustling store to get the last bottle of half decent vodka, the general gist of my shopping being booze, batteries, tinsel and fruit-- which all seems far naughtier and more festive than it is.
Not sure what happens next except i'm gonna play the ball were it lies and hope to find a way to help my appetite.

Tomorrow we have heavy rain and gale-force winds forecast.

I have a horrible feeling this winter will be a bad one, so some snow boots are on my January sales shopping list. I don't drive in snow or ice, the streets round here being very narrow and hilly, with too many parked cars lining the roads. I still cringe when I remember the day I went into a spin when turning into my close and came to a stop half an inch away from a neighbour's Ferrari ...

It is snowing, it must have started just as i got in. Wow, very powdery and blustery. Now if i only wanted to eat any of the many lovely leftovers frozen and fridged or wasn't afraid to make any more new food... there's some really lovely stuff in there, what the hell is wrong with me?

Damn you Rest of the World. *shakes fist at heavens*

Alaska's been too busy exporting all of its snow to save any for ourselves. If we don't have snow by Christmas, I'm moving in with cleo.

...and now the weather is down right dangerous outside, sirens and all for twenty minutes now. That was quick.
People should stop calling me while driving.

We might get a bit of snow here tomorrow... might only be more upstate, though. Might only get wind, cold, and rain, alas. But at least I don't have to go nowheres.

At the moment, I'm watchin' cheesey romantic movies on USA... the one with the girl who tries to drive away McCaughnehey in 10 days or less for a magazine column, while he has to woo her to land a big advertising account. I know, I know, but it actually ain't half bad.

Maybe a pizza later? Chili and cornbread sounds yummy...

Our forecast was for -5C/20F and up to 25cm/10in of snow. Not sure what it's done snow-wise, but it definitely hit -5C. Brrr. The mister and I have been playing World of Warcraft all day, but we're about to take a break for some pizza. Yay delivery!
