For everyone trying to get onto #bunnies I was told by a slashnet admin that the only server that is down is area51, so you just need to connect to another server.→[More:]

Here are the other servers:

moo.slashnet.org
radon.slashnet.org
vortex.slashnet.org
coruscant.slashnet.org
pinky.slashnet.org

I've never had any problems trying to connect to vortex, so try that one first. The reason the website is not working is that area51 and the website where on the same machine and that machine bascially blew up. So try again, if you want to chat!

As for irc servers, I've never heard of area51 before tonight and always connect to eu.slashenet.org. I have been using vortex and moo and another (forget the name now) for the past week but they all need 20 to 40 hits just to get a connection that does not time out.

No slashnet web server has been up for almost two weeks.

The admin is lying. They have more problems than just a dead server.

hm. I got in just fine. chatzilla auto-connected to coruscant, didn't give me any trouble at all. Just a datapoint, guess there aren't so many folks from the central U.S.

where IS weretable, btw?

is it likely that there is higher traffic on the IRC servers at certain times?

BoYoBIES i was getting the same "banned" response for awhile. It's a glitch / bug in the system for which there's some fix in the IRC wiki / FAQ page that I can't recall at the moment. I have to get dressed in forty layers of wool and polypro to get on the bike in 17 degree weather, or else I'd go dig for it.
