I'll Take You ... where? →[More:]

I just noticed that the intro riff of the Staples Singers' "I'll Take You There" (1972) is lifted from the 1969 rocksteady instrumental "The Liquidator" by the Harry J Allstars.

I've loved both songs for years, and yet only just realized the connection. Jamaican ska & rocksteady of the period frequently drew inspiration from American R&B and soul; it's nice to see the love being returned.
