A Little Touch of Schmilsson on the Web , his Wikipedia page, his Video Archive containing rough footage for a documentary about him that was never released, The Point page featuring an mp3 of Think About Your Troubles...Becausehe knew everybody, did everything, wrote a lot of somgs you already know, and hasn't been getting his props lately.
Miko, something tells me that you don't feel much like working today... :)

Not much, no.

Though oddly, I'm being really productive between posting to MetaSites.

I'm being really productive between posting to MetaSites.

Yep, that's why I commented. Suddenly every web page I visited had a Miko post!

I've loved his music ever since I didn't know I loved his music, back when my brother and I were given the 'Popeye' soundtrack album for Christmas. We used to play the crap out of that record, often integrating it into "radio shows" that we performed into the microphone of an old cassette tape recorder.

Harry Nilsson 'Popeye' demos.

"The Point" is one of my all-time-favorite animated movies (and I have mp3s of all the songs from it).

When I was in college, RCA Records had a monthly 'College Radio Seminar' at their Hollywood HQ, in which an L.A. radio pro would talk about The Biz to 'kids' from area College stations and they'd hand out promo copies of their new releases. I remember being just about the only one there who was enthusiastic about "A Little Touch of Schmillson in the Night", his album of covers of old standards (but you gotta hear what he did to "It Had to Be You" - I'll try to dig it up).

My older sisters listened to Nilsson Schmilsson all the time when I was a youngster. It's a great album, and no he doesn't get enough credit these days. :)

Nilsson Sings Newman has always been a favorite, even if it's also the shortest CD I own. His Jump Into The Fire was one of the first 45's I ever bought.

"Me and My Arrow" was a favorite since grade school. And when I got to college picked up Aerial Ballet I became a Nillson fan for life. That album has so many faves for me. "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song" is still one of the best songs ever written about fading stardom. And "Little Cowboy" is a wonderfully beauttiful lullaby.

I'm sure I'm quite alone in this opinion, but "Lime in the Coconut" is one of my all-time favorite songs. Love it so much. There. I am shamed now.

One of the first things Science Girl and I bonded over was The Point. Neither one of us had ever met anyone else who'd seen it. (I recall seeing it on TV one Thanksgiving weekend, with Dustin Hoffman playing the dad. I'm not sure when his part was re-done by Ringo... Anyway, this would've been about 1972 or 73, I'd guess.) Anyway, we now have the DVD and play it about once a year or so. Actually, I think we're just about due.
