Post-Thanksgiving update: So, I'm doing what it seems a lot of folks are tonight (judging from various posts here and at MeTa)
→[More:]and getting nicely hammered after dealing with the family. I love my family, but only see them once or twice a year. At one point, my Mom says to me, "Are you going to let her eat that?" as my daughter has her next, and last, sampling (really small pieces, honest!) of the four wonderful pies available for dessert. I explained to her that I was, in fact, going to let the girl get all sugared up. Yeah, she might lose her mind for a bit, but then she'll sleep in the car for the 1.5-hour drive home and drag off to bed afterwards. All of the aunts and uncles and extended family nodded and grinned.
My daughter did not let us down and put on quite the show before we left. Luckily, after my folks headed home, so I didn't have to listen to a lecture. My daughter is bouncy on any day, so this was pretty impressive. My son was his usual mostly calm and stable self.
The kids both got taken on really great, repeated and extended 4-wheeler rides by my uncles, both of whom were the wrong age to spoil me when I was about the same age. They both have grown kids now, and one has grandkids that are just too young yet.
The real disappointment of the end of my night was that IRC isn't working for me! I wanted my #bunnies! My guy was snoring on the couch within 20 minutes of us getting home. Granted, he'd tried to nap earlier, but was rudely awakened for mandatory photos, since we're getting married in June and all.
Happy thoughts to all of you.
