I am VERY VERY ANGRY. I just checked the mail. We just got some kind of crap letter from some white power racist organization. With a pamphlet that condembs mixed race marriages. In other words-DISSING MY GRANDBUN.→[More:]
It's illegal to poop on a letter and mail it back. I wish it wasn't.
It's legal to poop on a letter, put the poop and letter in a larger (preferably plastic) envelope and send it to the return address. Not that I've done that myself (I used pee).
Sometimes you get a little wake-up call that things you considered fixed are targets for those who wish to un-fix. I hate wake-up calls. My sympathies and shared outrage.
Did you maybe sign up for any anti-gay marriage organizations or mailing lists during the 2005-2006 election season? That would be my guess. (Since groups often trade mailing lists.)
My husband is a local Republican officer. And he's a member of the NRA. (Since he's a Colorado native nothing really too surprising about that.) So, who knows.
This crap was mailed from Buffalo, NY so I can't even blame it on local crazies.
As for these people: as long as there are rocks, people like these will crawl out from under them. Each generation there's less and less of them and they get more desperate sounding, which on a certain level is cause for optimism. It also amuses me how they promote themselves as representatives of the 'superior' white race. I can't speak for everyone, but this very white guy considers them an embarassment.
Also, I do believe that one thing we can do to keep these organizations in check is to get to their target audience (young, disenfranchised white males) before they do and fill them up with healthier ideas and address their concerns before these assholes poison them.

So, um.. any chance they gave a real return address (as opposed to a PO box)? (I promise I won't go burn their house down. I will, however, give the address to a friend who is an ACLU and NYCLU member who writes for a local indie paper. Since the best shame is public shame.).
Actually I read in a book of rotten neighbor anecdotes one woman's account about how her neighbors would steal her packages; denying it even when she saw they were using the stuff she'd ordered. One day she peed and shat in several containers, wrapped them securely, then sent them to herself. The thefts stopped after that.
They have a p.o. box in Lockfort, I think the name of the town was.
Kellydamnit, I'm with ya on THAT. That was some seriously messed up stuff, there. What a massive lack of personal judgement they displayed, and what a massive price that other family paid for it...
Lockport, I bet... Makes sense. The city of Lockport is very run down and poor (and I live in Buffalo, so when I say that, yeah, it means something), and the surrounding community is very rural and isolated. The primary hobby there seems to be, from what I can tell, drug addiction and hate crimes. It's a very "let's smoke some meth, tip a cow, and then make fun of the gays" kind of place.
The friends I have who grew up there moved out as soon as they could and will often tell horror stories. For some it involved a detour through rehab when still in high school. Sadly, not kidding.
(shoot, when my ex was in rehab that's where he went- they have the most places! That would also be where we got shit for being an interracial couple for the first time.)
I've protested against him before. The last one they planned to demonstrate in front of city hall. Something like 100 protesters were there... and the nazis chickened out. Someone said they saw a car of them drive by, but they didn't dare show their faces.
