THE PARADE IS ON!! I love the Macy's parade, it makes me so hap hap happy.
So do I ... I love the balloons and seeing all people watching and looking so happy. I used to live in NYC and work for the Today Show - working on the parade coverage was always so fun - cold but fun.
You see people? You could be missing an eye and I wouldn't notice. You could be covered in hairy moles and I would think you looked like Robert Redford.
What the hell is with those flesh-colored headset mikes the anchors are weaing on CBS?
Here in the central time zone, we get to broadcasts - one live and one time-delayed by one hour (for some reason), so it's like I get to watch two different parades! :) It's perfect turkey-roasting TV
I was taking pictures from my window but the battery died (and I made a point of charging it last night!) before Kermit and Santa came along. I'll put up what I was able to take later. No America sings this year?
It was nice to see Bob from Sesame Street- how long has he been doing that show? 40-50 years? I suppose once you're Bob from Sesame Street, you're never going to get another job ("Who do we want for the serial killer role?" "Maybe Bob from Sesame Street?" I think not!), so you might as well stay!
I love the Macy's parade. I stopped by the preparations yesterday evening near Central Park. So awesome. And it is a beautiful day today in NY.
Happy Thanksgiving bunnies.
I love the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I've been to NYC to see it about five times over the years, and it's an experience I recommend to everyone - try to go at least once in your lifetime. There's a wonderful feeling of festivity to it.
It's a different experience than watching it on TV. In the comfort of your living room, you get to see the performances at Herald Square, interspersed with glimpses of balloons and marching bands. It's much easier to see the detail of the floats on TV.
But in person, you're generally standing a few people back from the sidewalk and your ground-level view is limited. But the balloons are soooo awesome, bouncing about overhead, impossibly large. The celebrities on the floats are there waving right at you (I always go gaga for the Sesame Street float; the first famous people I ever knew about were Maria and Luis and I still act like a 5-year-old when I see 'em.)
