20 November 2007

What did/will you eat for dinner? For once I had some sad, shameful dinner.[More:]I went to the gym tonight and did conditioning plus an extra-long warm-up. To reward myself, I made...

Homemade chicken tacos. Bought a half spicy rotisserie chicken from the Portugese place around the corner, fresh Mexican tortillas from my local produce store, a ripe avocado (costs .50 more!), some vine tomatoes. Heated up the tortillas, topped with some cheese to get melty in the oven, shredded some of the chicken, diced the tomatoes, mashed 1/2 the avo with some minced onions. Topped each one with the above and some hot salsa. It was SOOOOO good.

Now I have enough chicken left over for sandwiches and/or dinner tomorrow. And the guac is totally going on everything I can think of.

What about you? If you don't know, what do you *wish* you were having?
Leftover takeout gnocchi blognese.

bolognese. gnocchi blognese would be pasta for netgeeks I suppose.

The first line should say "I didn't have some sad, shameful dinner." lol. I'm high on tacos!

Also, I forgot to mention the best bit - all consumed with a tallboy of German beer, which my friend gave me for my birthday.

What I'm having: half-assed pizza from across the street.

What I wish I were having: Spaghetti Carbonara the way I make it, with capellini, prosciutto, and peas.

I wish I was having your tacos. We haven't eaten yet. I haven't felt well today (migraine) but now I'm getting nauseated which seems to be my body's new way of telling me I'm hungry (it's quite annoying). Dunno what we're going to have, but it'll be something bland.

My mother brought home a pot pie from Boston Market. At least it's not Stouffer's.

Several misshapen cookies and a glass of wine. I feel vaguely ill.

Salad with eggs, grilled chicken, tomatoes, olives, feta and a couple glasses of wine. mmmm.

It looks like a steak, some of occhiblu's risotto, and a salad. And some merlot. Appetizers were kalamatas and some of this local blue cheese, which very-not-incidentally is gluten-free.

Currently nibbling on some Comte cheese, sipping sweet vermouth on ice, waiting for the missus to get home. Dinner tonight will be buffalo burgers from TJ's, served on Acme batard with homemade pickled red onions, sauteed mushrooms, tomatoes and lettuce, and a side of salad. Should be tasty.

I just sat down to a steak covered in garlic, mushrooms and a merlot reduction. I also made yukon gold mashed potatoes, garnished with chives. Just another flying-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of meals. We had a ton of mushrooms I had to use. I like that I'm able to cook like that.

Ha! The boyfriend is playing Call of Duty 4 online and hid his guy in a corner so he could eat while the match is going on. Apparently I'm a good cook. :)

Mmm, Point Reyes Blue is one of my favorite cheeses. Does blue cheese normally have gluten, ikkyu?

We're having beef stew, made with lots of red wine, which is smelling mighty fine, along with some cardoons. Cardoons!

Mmmmmmm. I am so jealous of all of your dinners.

Right now, I'm having salt & vinegar chips. I'm debating making pizza--I started to make bread last night and was too tired to bake it, so the dough will make a nice crust. I'm sooo tired, though. But that would make for leftover pizza for lunch!

Pasta and tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. If I'm feeling particularly adventurous I might throw in some frozen veggie meatballs from Trader Joe's.

I should get points for LAST night's dinner, though, which was butternut risotto and hella tasty. I used half arborio and half short-grain brown rice, and I think next time I'll use all short-grain brown. I do so love it.

Sushi (nigiri and hokomaki), because I didn't feel like cooking. Oh, and wine - Bodega Del Fin de Mundo (Southern Most Patagonia, Red), an Argentinian, which is one of my faves right now. Details 1/2 way down this page.

We ordered pizza from the new place that doesn't know its prices are too low for the quality they give yet. We have pizza once a month, and it was perfect today. Just delicious and cheesy and greasy.

Microwaved BBQ pork out of a little plastic tub, on a toasted bun. It's our standard "no time for anything else" dinner, and worked tonight.

bananas. bananas. V-8. Salad.

To make up for this shameful display I can only say that for lunch I had carnitas, carne asada, AND pollo asada. So there.

I had peppered beef stew which had been slowly cooking in the crock pot while I was at work, served with cauliflower and broccoli.

Pumpkin soup and filet mignon which was brought out too soon and not kept hot. The steak place I wanted to go to was too crowded for me to eat in time for a movie.
posted by brujita 21 November | 02:42
I had cold bulgur wheat with cold roasted tomatoes and peppers and warm steamed broccoli. And a little to much wine. But after the last couple of days, I really, really needed a drink. Which is a little sad, but there you go. That meal, sans wine, is also the next day's lunch.

Ms cooked up something decent but modest (fish, etc). I was on the road and missed dinner entirely.

I ate the top half of a buzzard, crouched over my sleeping pit, while I stared blankly at the gathering storm clouds.
