Send warm thoughts, plz. Thx. Today and tomorrow I'm pressure washing a client's deck. It's supposed to be 6C, max (that's about 42F). Well water is cold, also. And wet. Brrrrrr! I'm shivering just thinking about it. *tells her toes that everything will be okay*[More:]Not only that, but my neighbour (whose father owned this property) unilaterally decided to store her newly-split, rained-on-for-weeks wood in *my* woodshed, blocking off my nice dry wood. (Apparently her shed is full. Like this is my problem.) This is going to make keeping this place warm a bit difficult, to say the least. *goes off for hot shower, donning of several layers of clothing and all-weather gear*

Well, at least it's work!
Why pressure washing this time of year?

Just curious.

eek. Can you wear garb like fishermen wear to stay dry at least?

elizard, do those heat packs work that skiers use? Maybe you could put some in your shoes. Stay warm.

I read this as "washing a client's back." So, it could be worse! Stay warm.

Oh man, I don't envy you that*. But yay for work!

*Deck pressure washing is kinda fun, in the right (warm) weather.

danf: pressure washing now because the clients are hosting an art show (he's an artist) and the deck is so slippery as to be incredibly hazardous. This is the price of living in a rainforest.

chewie: That's exactly what I wore! Unfortunately, you can't get the good-quality gear on this island, so the arse and the jacket fastenings ripped right out by the end of their first day. *sigh*

Lori: I'll have to grab some of those when I'm in town--good idea.

Thanks for the warm thoughts! It was cold work, indeed, but I got to go in and warm up at lunch. End of the day I was fucking exhausted (this stuff uses micromuscles you never even knew you had); my client looked at me pityingly and said, "Would you like it if I gave you a ride home?" Unfortunately I was out of cigarettes and terlit paper, so had to go to the store, which is in the other direction. Damn. On the other hand, this gave me an excuse to stop in at the pub, where I knew a friend would give me a ride home after a couple of pints. And my fire was still going when I got home, so my place was nice and warm! Yaaay!

Still more to do tomorrow (it's a fucking big deck), so I'll carry your warm thoughts with me.

*drinks Dingle with via to warm up a bit more*
