Can one make ranch (dressing) flavored soup? Google is not helping. What flavor is 'ranch' anyway?
I absolutely adore ranch dressing, but you can only buy 'Newman's Own' in the UK. So when I visit the States I stock up on the sachets of Hidden Valley to mix up myself with milk and mayo.
I suppose you could flavour a soup with one of those sachets, although I'm not sure how it would turn out.
What mischief said. Here are some recipes for making your own ranch dressing- maybe you could cross one of those with a milky kind of soup, like cream of potato, skip the mayo, and see how that works.
a friend of mine is a manager at a local outback steakhouse, but before she got promoted she described the act of waiting tables as "serving ranch to rednecks"
i think i sprayed whatever i was drinking all over the table the first time i heard that.
Ranch dressing is a 20th century invention -- Hidden Valley Ranch actually created it when they were just an actual ranch, not a brand, so it's basically someone's special recipe flavor combo.
When I make my own dressing, I use oregano, thyme, and just a touch of paprika (but not enough to make the dressing change colors) and it tastes very much like the packaged stuff. (Without the chemicals.)
Awesome, pups! I'm going to experiment with ranch soup this weekend. I will post my results as they become available.
I have just realized that I drank way more than I thought I did last night. I posted this after coming home and before going to bed. I'm now getting ready to make dinner, catching up on the MeCha, and I see this post. I'm all like, "Wow! I want to know how to make ranch soup too!" Then I see that I'm the one that posted this question. *sigh*
