Tell me something about today... [More:]So it's a rainy, cold, dreary day here in Jersey. Football is on, I'm buying holiday gifts online, and sort of feeling blah. So I open a piece of Dove chocolate, individually wrapped. They have little sayings on the inside of the wrapper. Mine says "You know what? You look good in red." The kicker is - I'm wearing red! Made me giggle. Come on, bunnies, tell me a little something today!
I'm watching the NASCAR race from Homestead and making plans for the wad of money SSDI owes me.

I'm catching up on TIVO'd shows.

My neighborhood has been completely socked in by fog for the last three days, and it's made me claustrophobic and anxious and severely creeped out. I only just realized it's because I was worried I would never see the sun again.

But the sun has begun to burn through the fog, so I feel better now.

I had pizza for breakfast and am watching the last of the Packers game, waiting for the Bears game to start. I haven't been outside yet, but it's overcast. I'll be able to report back on the weather here after I get some more coffee and go for my first smoke. I think I'm going to play Chip's Challenge. I also made the boyfriend an omlett for breakfast. I've been making them more lately, thus improving my omlett-making skills. They come out in one piece now.

Of course I mean omelette. Apparently my spelling skills still need improvement.

Hey, youngergirl, I found a neat recipe in the Old Farmer's Almanac for omelettes. I tried it and it actually worked.

Gather all the ingredients you want in the omlette. If there's a number of people, have them write their names on quart size ziplock plastic bags.

For each omlette - crack two eggs in the bag. Massage them to scramble them.
Add the ingredients you want: cheese, diced ham, onion, whatever.
Place sealed bags in boiling water for 15 minutes.
Take out from water, open bag, and out slides a great omlette!

It worked for me, except that I only had gallon size bags, and one of them got stuck to the bottom of the pot and ripped. Floating omelette.

Today I am hating winter and needing sunshine in the worst way.

I am highly amused at the number of tubas currently in the stands directly behind the Baltimore Ravens' endzone.

There's like 10 tubas. They're very shiny. Are they hoping for an impromptu polka party?

I'm typing this on my iPhone.

That is so cute, redvixen. I love the Dove chocolate story. I also like the plastic bag omelet idea. It's great for a crowd.

We are having beautiful weather.

I'm hopped up on caffeine.

My next door neighbor is having their house painted this weekend. It's green with a purple door. It looks awesome.

Thanks for that omelet idea, redvixen!

We're not getting the Raven's game today. Maybe I'll see the tubas in the higlights. It's cold out, but not unbearable. The Bears are actully winning with Grossman playing.

Thanks for the idea, redvixen. But how would that work if you want cheese in the omelette? I don't think I could eat one without cheese in the middle. My favorite is a cream cheese omelette. It may sound strange, but don't knock it until you try it.

I'm feeling crafty today. I think I'll do some more work on my recipe book and maybe make something interesting for dinner. I bought yukon gold potatos last week, so I think mashed potatoes of some type will be involved.

In the time it took me to write this, the Seahawks scored against the Bears. I like the little green highlights on the Seahawks' uniforms.

I'd like to see your neighbor's house, LoriFLA. An old friend of my dad's lived in a purple stucco house. Seeing his house as a child made me realize that you could paint your house however you wanted. Even if that meant polka dots or stripes, which is what I used to want.

I'll take pictures, youngergirl.

I was at a club last night and I was chatting up the hottest girl in there. I had her in stitches laughing even before I inevitably got to the part where I explain that I have a weird accent because I came to Germany to be with my girlfriend. It felt good to know I still got it.

Then I went home and snuggled up with my honey. Rarrr!

My hubby has a cold so I went to church by myself, then afterward did a little shopping. Came home, found hubby cheerfully and messily frying potatoes.

This afternoon I went to the gym. Afterward we ate ice cream from Sonic. My body is used to such mixed messages.

It's a beautiful day outside. Meanshile my husband needs to get well because inside is a STY.(Husbands at home cause chaos. It's a rule.)

youngergirl, the tubas should be in the shot with the last field goal of the game, so watch for them on the highlights!

Too tired to do dishes. Too tired to go grocery shopping. Too tired to type. After eleven days of this miserable cold, it'll be nice just to breathe again.

But there's a CSI mini-marathon and Jon brought me Pringles. Salt side down on the tongue, it's just like communion.

Ran several errands today, and picked up a laser pointer to torment the cats with. It has paid for itself in hilarity, already.

Went for a run this afternoon. Got caught up in the rain, wind and hail for about two hours. I regret wearing just a T shirt and shorts. One of my hands was so cold I couldn't move my thumb and forefinger - I had to use my other hand to move them. Now my legs ache.

It's very gloomy out today. The sky's dark gray, and I'm wearing black and grey stuff for some reason. Back in the day, when I lived in Milwaukee, we had an announcer on the classical station with a deep sonorous voice, who would say, on such November days, "the weather is very introspective today." It's sort of like that.

Cool omelette shortcut idea, redvixen. Feel better Pips. I'm pretty sure pringles cure colds.

Here: watching the Jets/Steelers game b/c it's the only one we get. Just finished a helping of mrs chewie's broccoli, rice cheese and chicken casserole after having a couple of beers at the pub with a good friend. Cat on lap, all is good.

I said goodbye to the nice skiiers from The Hospitality Club this morning and spent the day noodling around the house is preparation for T'giving with friends and a friend coming through on his way to his T'giving with family. I'm also finishing up a column I'm writing for Computers in Libraries magazine and wondering what on earth I am going to do with all these half-working computers. There is a big mostly-white skunk in my backyard eartingh spilled birdseed. I have spiced and candied nuts cooking/cooling in the kitchen.

We bought a rice cooker recently and the mister has been chomping at the bit to use it. So, tonight we had chicken fried rice (inc: green onions, eggs, mushrooms, peas) and it was delicious.

Bagged omelets: we did that last year for a breakfast during our family reunion and it worked out really well. Cheese in the bags wasn't a problem. Note of caution: if you have lots of stuff in your omelet you'll have to let it cook longer.

Today was great. It was my first day home after 22 days away, and also my first full day off without any commitments in perhaps two months. I slept in, luxuriantly and insolently, until eleven o'clock. Then I lazed about drinking coffee with LT and flipping through the large pile of catalogs that had arrived in my absence. I made french toast, then we mounted an expedition to the shops, where I purchased enough wine glasses to host Thanksgiving and $100 worth of food in one swell foop. While shopping, I was delighted to discover all the holiday grocery fripperies available - especially the incredible Archway holiday cookies, a wonderful annual treat, my favorite being the malted nougat.

It was a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing day. Now I feel ready to welcome the mad November and December times.

I woke up in Charleston and it was sunny and warm and we lay around and drank mimosas and went out for coffee and breakfast and a bloody mary then wandered around the city, stumbling happily on the library society book sale. It was warm and beautiful and I took tons of pictures and then, alas, I had to drive the four hours back to Asheville blaring the Ramones the whole way. And now I miss him, but he'll be up here on Tuesday night or Wednesday! My life has changed dramatically for the better, y'all! I am happy! It is fucking amazing!
