Is there a safer way to LA? →[More:]I just got my minivan but my dad doesn't want me to drive to LA, he says the traffic would be to hard for me. Is there a secret back way or something? Do I need to hire Gollum to take me there?

Um...how long have you been driving? Not to snark, but if you're driving at any time other than rush hour, it should be fine, especially since you're used to driving in California already (right?). I used to drive home to Orange County from college up in Santa Cruz all the time and would get to LA around 10 or 11 pm and never encounter any traffic at all, not even on Thanksgiving or Christmas, and I was dealing with the Grapevine or the 101 through Santa Barbara, two known chokepoints.

Where in LA, exactly, are you trying to go?
