Three Point Injury Report! What ails you? Gripe! [More:]
1. I woke up with a sore and stiff neck, back and front, and lower back twinges. I overdid it in. . .Pilates. Yesterday. I've been taking it for a few months and just last week was able to perform the most difficult exercise. She had us do a bunch of stuff with that exercise yesterday, so, of course, I did it Wrong.

2. Dog with torn ACL has surgery on Tuesday. Lame-dog centric Thanksgiving to follow.

3. If for some reason you want some marginal NFL QB hurt, drop me a line and I'll start him in the metachat league. I've been scoring between +5 and negative 5 from my QBs.
Not the same kind of injury, but:

1) A project I've been working on for over a month had a screening last night with Those Who Must Be Obeyed. The Very Most Important of THMBO spent most of the two hours typing on his Blackberry, then decreed (amongst a lot of other things) that our show (which is about a possible nuclear confrontation) has "too many drums." Yes, your highness... that's what we were told you wanted, but now we'll re-edit the entire damn thing to your whim.

2) I checked my bank account this morning and I'm almost overdrawn, meaning I have to pull some money out of savings to get me through the next couple of days. Great- I've managed to un-balance my finances right before the holidays.

3) There is no #3, so I'll send some "good luck" vibes to you and your dog, rainbaby... here's to a smooth surgery and a speedy (well, as speedy as these things can be) recovery!

1) I had my eosinophilic esophagitis endoscoped (say that three times fast) last week. So far so good.

2) Kid knocked his tooth loose by faceplanting. Dentist said it should reseat itself. In any case it's a baby tooth, but he's young enough (3) that it shouldn't be going anywhere yet.

3) Brokenhearted.

1) I'm seeing a doctor today to try to figure out what's causing nine months of nausea and other GI horribleness. I'm stressed about this.

2) I will probably need to get an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I'm stressed about this too.

3) Those are going to cost me at least $2K before my insurance kicks in. I'm *really* stressed about this.

1. Sore throat. Day 9. It never gets terribly bad but it never quite goes away, either. Annoying. Sore. And today my glands are a little swollen. Bah.
2. Foot thing. I think it is a bunion. This embarrasses me because for some reason I associate the word bunion with elderly peasant women and it makes me feel like I should be creeping around the tenements wearing layers of dirty black rags and large leather boots stuffed with newspapers. Maybe mumbling to myself. It hurts and part of my foot sticks out and the old shoe guy at the shoe store where they still have old shoe guys told me I need to start wearing my shoes 1/2 size larger, which I find horrifying.
3. Got the bill for my GI CT scan - dear gods. $700 over and above what insurance will pay. I do not have $700. They'll just have to get $20 a month for the rest of my life or something.
4. none of this matters even one tiny iota to me because i am really, really happy

1. I called the pediatric dentist this morning to make two appointments for the kids. The kid dentist fees are highway robbery. My kids don't have cavities, knock on wood, but my older kid (7) hasn't lost a baby tooth yet and yesterday we discovered that he has a permanent tooth coming in behind a baby tooth that won't fall out. It's all screwed up.

2. I have sciatic pain at my right hip sometimes. It makes me feel like an old woman.

3. When will I stop getting acne? I'm 35 years old!

1. stats exam at one that I'm underprepared for: I don't give a shit about the binomial distribution.
2. roommate and I need to cleeeaaaannnnnnnn. Damn.
3. Female types make my life complicated.

1) Have had the endoscopy (no barrett's esophagus, yay!), colonoscopy in a week. Seems like there are lots of GI issues with the bunnies.

2) I am putting together job applications. I have to write a two page statement on my philosophy of teaching, which is... interesting, seeing as I have only been in post-docs in med schools with no opportunity to teach. Last time I taught was in grad school, oh so long ago. At least my research statement is impressive.

3) Have a vaguely sore shoulder. Sigh.

I'll be 49 next month and still get the occasional pimple. But people think I'm in my thirties so it's worth it.

(It helps that a lot of thirtysomethings around here smoked and worshiped the sun, making them look fortysomething. I shine in comparison.)

Oh, topic.

1. Foot and ankle pain (much better since I got new athletic shoes, I must say)
2. Odd nagging muscular pain mid upper back. Not enough to warrant any attention, but been going on for months now. Piffle.
3. Will the last remnant of my heel blisters PLEASE go away so I can comfortably wear my new shoes? Thank YOU.

1. I have these lumps on the top of my foot that I'm pretty sure are ganglion cysts, but here anything that involves tests requires at least 3 trips to town (each taking up a whole goddamned day, most of it on buses and ferries, and costing a small fortune), so I'm putting off dealing with it. Maybe next week. Sure looks weird, though. The mad scientist in me wants to find out wtf is in there.
2. Mysterious sore throat here, too. Hmmm... It's a bit better today, though.
3. Happy kitten on my lap, chewing on my finger and purring. Not an ailment, just a nice thing. Also, you know the cold days are here when you start the fire in the morning from the coals of the night before. I like this ritual.

Is this related to your weekend visitor, mgl?

1) I've had the mysterious sore throat comes-goes thing, too, though not for the last few days, plus I dodged the bullet when mr. taz had ucky three-day flu recently and I managed to miss it, while still kissing him. (he's the one who never gets sick, and I'm the one that can't be near a child without being sick the next day; generally healthy, but kids and crowded places are my kryptonite.)

2) I'm doctorphobic, and lucky with health, so I haven't had any kind of check up of anything in, like, mmmm... a millionmillion years?

3) But! My mom just had a battery of tests for all kinds of things, inside and out (and she had breast cancer a few years ago), and she's A+ Prime Doubleplus good, omg. She had to go through quite a bit of stressful testing, not for any particular reason, except it was time or around time for a bunch of different things, and she said she was not going through another holiday season waiting to hear test results, so scheduled way early to get everything over and results back by mid-Nov. Yay, mom!

1. After three and a half years, I am newly divorced. Am I supposed to be happy? I'm depressed as $hit.

2. Also, I found out that I'll be writing checks for just shy of a grand a month, so I'm nervous about how money will work out until my lease is up and I can find somewhere cheaper to live.

3. And if we're bitching about physical stuff, the stress from the above has given me the trots for about a week now.
posted by PaxDigita 14 November | 12:28
1. Sometime in the past few days I apparently chewed through my tongue. It is all ouchy now and hurts to talk and eat and anything.

2. Have been feeling for same few days as if I'm going to get sick. Wish I would just get sick and get it over with. Also it's monthly crampytime, but the crampy decided to happen in my feet. WTF. Cannot walk.

3. I need more butt. None of my jeans stay on without the help of a belt and then the extra fabric bunches up in nasty chafing ways around my waist. Argh.

So sorry, PaxDigita. Divorce is pretty shattering, no matter the reasons, I know very well. I hope yours is for the best, and that the rest of the transition goes as well as possible. deleted a bunch of other stuff which was encouraging, and true in my experience, but which I figured just actually doesn't help that much at this very moment.

1. My knees are in a race with my back to see which can deteriorate more, faster.

2. Time to see a dentist; these five-year-old bonds are due for a re-do.

3. In about an hour, I pop my last sever-drowsiness-inducing antibiotic pill for the sinus infection I got two weekends ago. Hooray!

1. Stupid back injury.

2. Stupid rage eating away at my insides.

3. My stupid foot, which is in fine fettle now but soon will be all stupid and sore after I finish kicking and kicking and kicking and kicking the feckless poltroon whose unprofessional failure to perform his duty put me in this murderous rage. And then all the kicking will make my stupid back hurt more, so it's a big circle of stupid pain.

And it's stupid.

Please take care, PaxDigita.

My three:
1. I've had a cold for a month.
2. I have a twinging pain in my back.
3. One of my teeth sometimes hurts.

I came back, all stomped out and sweetened and less self-centered/rage-infused, to say "aaaaaaaw" and whuffle everyone in here who needs it or wants it.

Sorry for all y'all's physical and emotional bumps and bruises, and especially PaxDigita. Take care of yourselves, and let's get better.

Bad cold. Stayed home from work yesterday. Didn't sleep the whole night before. Started choking everytime I laid down. When I finally did get a bit of sleep yesterday afternoon, I dreampt I died. Woke up choking. I think I stopped breathing in my sleep. Saw stars, like if you press your knuckles into your eyes. A soothing voice in the dream told me I was dying, and I woke up. Good to know my unconscious cares.

Too tired for 2 and 3. Hope everyone feels better.

Hope everyone feels better, and Pips, please take care.
PaxDigita, I lost twenty some odd pounds on the old divorce diet. Unfortunately, it all came back when I got happy again. ;^)

1. I have longterm shoulder pain, not sure if it's tendonitis, bursitis, some itis. I keep meaning to go to the doctor, but I keep putting it off.
2. On a more serious note: Mr. V has a mass on his kidney. And we're scared as they also saw a spot on his lung. Surgery as soon as possible, after our second opinion with a specialist in Philly.
3. My face is breaking out again. I don't think the stress is helping at all.

1. This weather is hell on my legs. They ache pretty much every conscious moment now.

2. I'm really tired

3. I sewed through my finger the other day. ow.
posted by kellydamnit 14 November | 21:21
1. No change in my eye.

2.I have a wart on my right index finger.

3. The only time I can get a proper night's sleep is when I travel.

Gah, pips---that sounds like sleep apnea, get to a doctor pronto!

Thanx, folx.

"Divorce diet" -- hmpf. I think my case of the trots is some low-level bug or something. It'll pass in a couple more days, no doubt. But at one point I weighed 208 and am now down around 178 from all the speedmarching.

Depression's a bit better. Too much to do to sit & sulk anyhow.
