Dan in Real Life - Spoilers I liked some things and hated some things about it.

1. The portrayal of the situation. I think most people have been in a situation in which we are in love, or smitten, with someone in a situation where there are a lot of people around and for whatever reason, it would be highly inappropriate to act on those feelings. This movie does a good job with the ache and inner conflict, there.
2. They made Juliet Binoche look like a goddess. She is not hard to look at, and most times she in onscreen, she is the center, and the director is obviously as admiring of her appearance as I am.
Dislikes:
1. I don't know of any family that is that happy. It is a very idealized American family in that they are all rich, or seem to be, and everyone has their little quirks but no one gets along that well. And no one's life is that transparent to one's parents.
2. Getting serious Steve Carrel fatigue here.
3. It might have been a better movie without the scene playing under the ending credits. This happy ending that the view is double-blugeoned with makes it much less of a movie. The other horrible example of this is the ending of "Something's Gotta Give," in which a similar device is used, much to the detriment of the movie as a whole.
A mildly diverting afternoon at the show, holding hands with my wife, and mostly looking forward to the John C. Reilly music mockumentary that they showed a preview for.
