Call it, Friend-o. [More:]Javier Bardem is some scary fuck. I am locking the doors, the windows, the keyholes and the air vents. This ain't no joke.

On the other hand, Josh Brolin is one hell of an actor (not that Bardem isn't, *shivers*). I've seen two movies with him lately, Ridley Scott's American Gangster and now this.

I totally want to get hold of the script and memorize the lines. Instant classic.

Also there is a Wendell in the movie!!!! Yay!
(this isn't a spoiler by the way)
Oh, I forgot to wink.

I loved it.

And Josh Brolin's mustache should win an Academy Award for its combined performances in NCFOM and American Gangerster this year.

Josh Brolin can win an Oscar by thinking about it. As far as I am concerned.

I probably have to see it again, because I missed some of the dialogue, due to the accent. I suspect the rest of the audience did too, because there were only few who would laugh, or something. How did you follow it, mullacc?

I can't hang with the violence, so I saw Lars and the Real Girl instead. Ryan Gosling deserves an oscar for it. Funny amd sad - I definitely do NOT want to live that far north unless I'm in a big city.

Chewie, I know what you mean about the violence in films. I am not particularly fan of violence myself, I do not seek it. I usually look at the ceiling or look for my foot to avoid the gore. I could very well live without it, but in movies about drug-dealing it is pretty much unavoidable. And I would argue that there is a degree of awareness that comes in with the harsh realism.

Anyway, I would like to see Lars and the Real Girl as it deals with a very interesting topic. How we love someone, how we need to love someone, regardless of who they really are (and that refers to the love of the boy to the doll but also the love of the people around him towards him). I do not know what is the message here, but I can think of a few ways that I would be totally for it and a few others where I would consider it as lame propaganda.

I hear you, carmina. We've turned off more than 1 movie to skip the violence factor. Though I've always wondered how Flawless ended & who died.

carmina: I didn't have trouble with any of the accents--but I'm from the US Southwest, so I reckon I'm accustomed to it. ;) I do sometimes have to watch movies featuring British accents in sub-titles though. Barry Lyndon, for example. And the UK version of The Office.
