This is a flooding thread: I have a friend in the severe flood warning zone and can't reach her to find out if she's ok.[More:]Worried. Probably no reason to be, as there's no indication that anyone has been harmed. But she does live on the seafront. :(
I've got the BBC news on now and it says that they don't think it's as bad as they first expected although the tidal surge is expected to affect the Norfolk Broads too.

Where is your friend?

Sky News is showing people surfing the tidal surge ...

the bottom bit of Suffolk, ej, about halfway between Great Yarmouth and Felixtowe - they're getting the surge later this morning. It does look like it wasn't as bad as they expected, and defences are better than they used to be. It won't be a new Dunwich, anyway.

I'm assuming she heard the forecast and retreated inland.

There was quite a storm here yesterday, but I heard that Scotland got hit really hard.

storm in a teacup - just heard that she's fine. They didn't evacuate her town in the end, though they were thinking of it. The water was only a little lower than it was in the disastrous floods of 1953, so that says something about the strength of defences these days.
