I don't know if it's 30 years of it going the other way, but koeselitz's comment has me laughing my ass off at the end of depressing day.
My friends in Florida used to always make jokes when I came home with loonies in my pocket...called them "Artic Pesos". "Is that a Canadian penny?" etc etc. Back when the dollar was hovering at 70 cents.
