Describe something that's happened to you for which you have no explanation.
When I was a kid, I found this piece of rebar about my height. I was playing spear-thrower with it, and one of my throws was aimed at a cement light pole on the next block.
It hit this pole, and bounced back and hit me right between the eyes. While it hurt like hell, I immediately got a sense of wonder, which persists today, about why the hell I didn't lose an eye right there.
A law school contacted me out of the blue and asked me to apply. They told me they were waiving the application fee, and that it didn't matter that my LSAT scores were 5 years old, and that it didn't matter that it was past their application deadline. So, I applied (I had been intending to go to law school eventually) and a few days later I was accepted. A few days after that I was informed that I had a scholarship. I ended up going to the school. I still have no idea what their interest was in me, and I am not being modest when I say there was no reason for it that I can see.
I won a math award in high school. I can't figure out why. I didn't take any high level math courses, and the teacher who I thought may have liked me enough to nominate me said flat out that he didn't. Maybe it was based solely on test scores, but I think there were more qualifications that that, and I can't figure out to this day why I was choosen.
I wouldn't even know where to begin. My life is fay and fuxored.
Like the time I threw up all weekend, involuntarily picturing the face of a friend of mine the whole time (let's call her "N.") Went back to work Monday and asked another friend what happened to N. He said N tried to commit suicide. I asked him how. Friend said she probably cut her wrists, since she was a cutter. I said, No, she overdosed. My friend said, No way. I said, Trust me. Couple days later we found out she had overdosed and spent the weekend in the hospital. She had had her stomach pumped.
Someday when I die I expect one hell of an explanation for the last 25 years.
