Isn't it funny how that little intro inflicts such visceral flashbacks? Hopeful that the Minnesota October night is kind enough that no coat will obscure my awesome costume (Darth Vader, gypsy, hippie, punk), sprawled out on the floor with a massive bowl of popcorn (more butter and salt than corn, almost), watching the weirdly-classic-yet-anachronistic It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, all before we could go trick-or-treating.

And it is "trick or treat," not "tricks and treats," which sounds awkward and drove me nuts. Who has ever called it "tricks and treats"?!

Did all the kids call it that ("tricks and treats"), or was it just Sally? I always figured it was just one of her malapropisms.

Hmm... maybe it was just Sally, but oh the indignation that sticks with me to this day! I'll have to watch it again to investigate!
