Steve Martin is a killer banjo player. The song is Martin's own composition "The Crow". Bela Fleck completely hotdogs his solo and muffs the last note, although I suspect that may have been planned. The lead-in with David Letterman is classic.
In high school, my friends and I would hang out at one of their parents' houses. One of these friends' dad played the banjo really fucking well -- his playing was downright mesmerizing.

It turns out that Steve Martin taught him how to play when they both worked at Knott's Berry Farm.

I own The Steve Martin Brothers LP. On vinyl.

That's all I need to say.

(aside from "Thank you, mischief". I don't think I'd have seen this otherwise.)

Mesmerizing is right. There's something about the rhythm and speed of banjo playing that keeps my eyes glued to the instrument. Thanks for the great video.

^ He really is. One of my favorite people - smart, and a deep pool of talent.
